One-minute portraits YouTube Series
The Challenge
Humanizing internationally recognized filmmakers, actors, and industry figures, plus creating a digital format that can sustain relevance year after year.
All this on an extremely tight festival schedule.
My Role
Producer, interviewer, and format developer for the festival’s digital portrait series over a 10-year collaboration, including media relations.
Conducted guest research, managed scheduling within the festival, and contributed to editorial decisions.
The Approach
Interviews happened since the beginning of TIFF, but they were not enough to catch the eye. We had to run festival prestige into accessible, human storytelling.
We designed the series as an intimate, character-driven format and focused on extracting personal philosophy, creative processes, and vulnerabilities.
The goal was to build a living digital archive that strengthened the cultural authority of TIFF beyond the physical event while also giving a platform for upcoming directors. For many, these were their first portrait interviews. For others, it became their favorite portrait material.
The result is a longstanding YouTube series, amplified on social media.
